It is meant to be a place for information about the Nintendo Wii and Wii Availability in special since it is still a problem to get one for many people.About one week after the release I realized that Wii Availability is really a major problem.
I read a lot about the Nintendo Wii and a wanted to own one as soon as possible.
So I went to my local store which is quite a big one to take my Wii home.
I just wanted to experience the revolution and this unique interactive playing experience that is featured by the Wii gaming console.
Wii Sold Out in Minutes
I guess we have been about fifty people that stood in the line in front of the counter.
That was ok for me and I knew everybody would want to get that console as soon it was in the stores... if only it had been in the stores!
To make a long story short, after maybe twenty lucky ones walked out with their Wii under the arm the guy behind the counter apologized to the rest of us for being sold out.
We should come back in one week because then the next delivery would have arrived and for sure that time there would be a Wii for everyone.
The Revolution is Out of Stock Again
Well, that was an unpleasant experience but I trusted the clerk and came back a week later with the money in my pocket, ready to buy immediately.
After entering the store I couldn't believe standing in line again just like the week before. Even more people showed up as last time just to be told that the Wii was sold out again after a few minutes.
I never had thought something like that was possible.
A well known and major company releases a product that everybody wants, they created the buzz and people are hot for their console - but they cannot or are not willing to deliver.
Whether it was some kind of mean marketing strategy that I didn't understand or simply bad management.
Fact was, I still didn't have my Wii.
Wii Availability and Online Stores...
I drove around and visited every gaming store and every mall in my area for a few more days but it was all the same:
"Sorry, sold out"... "No, we don't know when the next delivery will arrive"... "The next units are ordered allready and will arrive soon. Come back next week"... etc.
Sounds familiar?
Hell, where could I get it? I didn't want to wait another week and I didn't want to hear lame excuses anymore.
I wanted my Wii - NOW!
So I searched online.
Almost the same situation...
It took me several days until I found an online shop that had the Nintendo Wii in stock at the moment and I ordered right away.
Surprisingly enough it really arrived two days later.
I checked the online shop again the very same day and they were sold out.
Well, I was lucky.
I guess many people have made similar experiences when they tried to get a Nintendo Wii - or was it just my bad luck?

Nintendos console is the fastest selling gaming system so far but Wii Availability is still not guaranteed for many regions and it seems this situation will last until the end of 2007.
While there are areas where they are easy to find, many stores run out of them in days if not in hours as soon as they are in the stores.
Nintendo is making big efforts to raise the production but it is highly unlikely that they will be able to satisfy the demand in the next months.
The Situation Until Christmas
The situation may even get worse as the christmas season is around.
The Nintendo Wii will be on the wish list of many kids and adult players so it is most important to find one now before the christmas rush starts in.
You may be lucky and have a close relationship to some folks at a store so that they hold one back for you when the next delivery has arrived.
It's worth a try but I wouldn't bet on it that this tactic will work.
Maybe you are lucky and find a store that accepts pre-orders - but they will be hard to find if a shop does it at all.
The situation is annoying.
The Demand is Still Increasing
It really depends on where you are located and some folks never had thought that it might be almost impossible for others to get a Wii console.
Yes, there are areas where you just walk into the next store and you can get a Wii without problems but only the minority of gamers is that lucky.
So if you don`t want to travel all across the country to find the next store that has the console in stock the best way is to order it online.
Find Your Wii Online
Without spending much time you can find online stores that accept orders and - more important - that also deliver at once.
You can find several sites that provide a tracking service and show where the gaming consoles are available.
Well, still you have to be fast, but it is not impossible to find one and it won't take hours.
Nevertheless keep in mind that the situation may change dramatically the closer christmas comes.
It is most probable that the Wii will be unavailable even online with the beginning of december.
Although you should be able to get accessories like the remote controller, the Nunchuk controller and of course the Wii games it's better not to wait too long even for these products.
In conclusion it seems that as long as the Wii Availablity is so low the best and the only way for most people to get a console is to buy it online.
The news is spread around the internet already that Wii Availability will be provided by Amazon on October 31.
It's said that Amazon will have a decent amount of Nintendo Wii Consoles in stock and the selling will start at 10 PM Pacific Standard Time.
If you still don't have your Wii get to the Amazon Wii Site as soon as possible because the rush for this offer will be huge and this shipment will be sold out fast.
